With the Niara theme, the open graph image tag wasn't using my product images, breaking images for Twitter cards.

the solution was replacing large_default with Niara_large in the og:image tag in /modules/socialsharing/views/template/hooks/socialsharing_header.tpl

Since Niara is the default theme, I feel like this should be the default behavior.
