What changed

  • Apply and enforce the bounded-NAPI Salina Ethernet fix during kernel builds.
  • Add CachyOS zram/VM tuning, 1080p60 Gamescope defaults, BFQ/read-ahead storage tuning, HDMI audio preference, quiet logging, locale generation, and NetworkManager-only boot.
  • Disable NXP Wi-Fi autoload by default while preserving explicit opt-in helpers.
  • Repair GPT growth ordering and preserve partition-table backups before expansion.
  • Harden SSH/firewall/first-boot credentials and remove the reusable default password.
  • Tie cached kernels to the external patch ref/config and local patch hashes.
  • Add repository validation and document hardware limitations.

Root causes addressed

The fixes target the live PS5 dossier findings: unified-memory OOM kills under native 4K, the empty NAPI CPU0 softirq loop, NXP Wi-Fi log storms, systemd network/firmware ordering issues, excessive console output, PipeWire HDMI/DualSense default races, mechanical-disk latency, stale backup GPT metadata, and insecure default access.

Validation

  • ./tests/validate-ps5-image.sh
  • All image YAML action blocks parsed and passed bash -n.
  • git diff --check passed for source files; the embedded unified-diff patch has required context whitespace.
  • The local NAPI patch applies cleanly to the retained PS5 7.1.7 source.

A full Docker image build remains pending because Docker Desktop's daemon was not running on the development Mac.

Booted the os on the PS5 noticed too many issues going on during gaming and then I used GPT to diagnose and fix a plethora of issues. Recorded the issues and then made the changes to the code base. Reflashed reinstalled and retested. Still having some crashing issues in Hell Let Loose Vietnam, but honestly I think it might be the game more so than the OS.
